AI Standards Hub Global Summit: Speakers and agenda
The AI Standards Hub’s inaugural Global Summit is fast approaching and will feature an exciting lineup of experts from around the world, including keynote speeches by Roberto Viola (European Commission) and Rebecca Finlay (Partnership on AI). Day 1 will consider the lay of the land in AI standardisation and explore the role of standards in enabling international regulatory interoperability, strategies for promoting stakeholder diversity and global inclusion in standards development, and pathways to a mature and effective AI assurance ecosystem. Day 2 will have a thematic focus on key issues in the governance of foundation models and will examine opportunities for alignment and closer collaboration between the AI safety community and the AI standardisation community in addressing these issues.
A list of all confirmed speakers and the preliminary agenda are available on our website. Both days of the Summit will be livestreamed online. To receive access information for the livestream closer to the date, please complete the “Sign Up for Updates” form located on the event page.
We are proud to be collaborating with three official partner organisations in convening the AI Standards Hub Global Summit. The OECD, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the Partnership on AI are contributing to shaping key elements of the Summit and will be represented through senior speakers in the programme.
The AI Standards Hub at the Paris AI Action Summit
On 10 and 11 February, the AI Standards Hub team participated in the AI Action Summit in Paris, where we were one of 50 projects selected to be showcased through the Paris Peace Forum’s call for innovative AI projects. Our dedicated "Action Station" at the Grand Palais provided an opportunity to engage with global stakeholders and share insights into our work.
On the second day, we co-hosted the official side event "Shaping the Future of AI Governance: Standards, Risk Management, and Responsible Practices" in partnership with the OECD, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, and SaferAI. The discussions highlighted the evolving AI standardisation landscape and the importance of incorporating human rights considerations in standards-setting processes. The recording of the side event is now available to watch on the OECD’s website.
Blogpost: A Life Cycle for Trustworthy and Safe Artificial Intelligence Systems
As part of the AI Standards Hub’s research programme, the National Physical Laboratory collaborated with other partners on a paper that explores the application of risk in the AI life cycle and how it influences the decisions made during the phases of AI system development. It also highlights the crucial role that measurement can play in quantifying trustworthiness and provides the basis of the technical measurement standards that will drive AI assurance, validation, verification, and testing.
