AI Action Summit side event: Global Standardisation in the Context of AI Governance
Date:
Time:
– 6:00 pm
Location:
Description
Global standardisation plays a crucial role in the effective governance of AI, providing a key avenue for promoting alignment on best practices, facilitating cross-border interoperability, and underpinning critical assurance mechanisms to build trust across the AI lifecycle.
Co-organised by the AI Standards Hub and the OECD, this event will bring together a diverse range of stakeholders from across the international AI ecosystem to explore critical needs, challenges, and priorities in shaping standards that foster responsible and equitable global governance of AI.
As a deep dive into global standardisation as an AI governance tool, the event will provide an opportunity for an expanded examination of AI Action Summit themes within this specific domain. It will also serve as a precursor to the AI Standards Hub Global Summit, set to take place in March 2025 in London.
This event is part of a broader half-day programme (13:00 to 19:30 CET) at the OECD Headquarters, which will bring together three official side events of the AI Action Summit under one roof. Through a multi-stakeholder collaboration, the UN Human Rights B-Tech Project, OECD, AI Standards Hub, and Safer AI will join forces to advance critical discussions on AI governance and drive meaningful progress on issues that shape the future of AI. The event will be followed by at networking cocktail at the Château de la Muette, located within the OECD headquarters.
