Gilles Thonet is the Deputy Secretary-General of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) as well as the Secretary of the IEC Standardization Management Board (SMB).

Philippe Metzger became IEC Secretary-General & CEO on 1 February 2020. In this position, he is responsible for the global day-to-day operations of the IEC. Prior to joining the IEC, Mr. Metzger was the Director General of the Swiss Federal Office of Communications (OFCOM) from 1 January 2014.
